Thanksgiving Scripture - Nov 12

Introduction...

Day 12 Psalms 98:1-9 Remembering God’s salvation with a new song
(Memorization Scripture: v. 1)

1 Oh, sing to the Lord a new song!
For He has done marvelous things;
His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.

2 The Lord has made known His salvation;
His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the nations.
3 He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.
5 Sing to the Lord with the harp,
With the harp and the sound of a psalm,
6 With trumpets and the sound of a horn;
Shout joyfully before the Lord, the King.
7 Let the sea roar, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell in it;
8 Let the rivers clap their hands;
Let the hills be joyful together before the Lord,
9 For He is coming to judge the earth.
With righteousness He shall judge the world,
And the peoples with equity.

“Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory” (v1). Our God does marvelous things. His work among the people of Israel is marvelous. Similarly, God accomplished the marvelous work of salvation through His son Jesus, whose name is “wonderful” (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus is the Incarnate Word. He lived among us and paid our debt on the cross. He was resurrected, and he ascended to the heavens. He will come again and bring judgement. God’s salvation, from beginning to end, is full of marvels.

Not only did God accomplish salvation before the foundation of the world, but, every day He brings renewal into our lives. In each day, God delivers us from a fallen world and from our sin nature so that we are not condemned before His righteous judgement. The “new song” flows out of the new experiences we have under God’s saving grace. As it is written, “[Your mercies and compassions] are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:23). Day by day, let us take to heart God’s new doings on us through His finished salvation and count His blessings. Let us shout joyfully before Him and sing Him a new song.
