Praising Scripture - Dec 23

Annual Bible Reading Plan:
Ps. 142
Zec. 1-2
Heb. 5

Day 23 Psalm 63:1-4

1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and your glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.

Reflection: David, in the wilderness, did not wait until the crisis passed or life became smooth to praise God. He lifted his voice in the midst of danger and deprivation. As one who truly praises God, he had experienced the power of praise firsthand—when he played his harp, the evil spirits troubling Saul were driven away. Praise is not only pleasing to God, but it is also what we need. It draws us straight to God’s throne, for God rests upon the holy praises of His people. In every dry and weary place, our heartfelt worship can connect us to His presence and power.
